Ed Ruscha, a pivotal figure in American conceptual art, is renowned for his exploration of language and the urban landscape, particularly the vernacular of Los Angeles. In Vine / Melrose, created for Parkett No. 55, Ruscha presents a two color lithograph that focuses on the cross-roads of two iconic L.A. streets, inviting viewers to reconsider the familiar through a new hyper simplified lens. Ruscha’s broader practice spans paintings, photography and printmaking, frequently juxtaposing words and images inspired by the shifting spirit of contemporary American culture and advertising.

Parkett offers a unique and comprehensive archive of contemporary art and artists from around the world. Its 101 volumes, published between 1984 and 2017, include direct collaborations with some of the most compelling artists of the time. Across the series, 270 artists’ portraits were presented, each accompanied by three to five texts written by renowned critics, authors and curators.
