NOTES:

Born in London in 1958, Julian Opie is celebrated for his distinctive style, which reduces figures and landscapes to bold lines and flat areas of color. Closely aligned with the aesthetics of pop art, his work often investigates the human body and its perception across a range of media including painting, sculpture, installation, and video. In Dance, Figure 3, Opie depicts the dynamic movement of a red dancing figure on a white lenticular panel, inviting viewers to animate the work through their own motion and blurring the boundary between stillness and animation, thus emphasizing his enduring fascination with movement and human form.
