Stage Worn Tartan and Gold Sequin Jacket

This custom designed tartan and gold performance jacket exemplifies Jay Chou’s flair for theatrical innovation and cultural fusion. Strikingly asymmetrical, the jacket is red on the right and white on the left, with gold sequin detailing tracing the front and sleeves in bold, rhythmic lines. A striped gold pattern runs along the sleeves, while black mesh panels at the sides and inner arms provide breathability and ease of movement. The ribbed knit collar, cuffs, and waistband add texture and structure. Attached to the waist is a kilt inspired skirt in tartan, shorter in the front and cascading longer at the back, adding movement and drama to the design. Worn by Chou during the first phase of the Carnival World Tour (2019-2020), this one-of-a-kind jacket blends opulence and performance utility, reflecting the visionary artistry that defines his stage presence.

The Carnival World Tour (October 2019-October 2025), is one of Jay Chou’s most spectacular live productions and a celebration of his two decade reign as the “King of Mandopop.” Combining cinematic staging with his signature blend of pop, hip hop, and traditional Chinese motifs, the tour captured Chou’s ability to bridge East and West, nostalgia and innovation, intimacy and grandeur.
