These Concord Air Jordan 11s were worn by Michael Jordan during the 1995-96 season, when the Chicago Bulls achieved a historic 72–10 record and won their fourth NBA Championship. This was the first Championship of their second three-peat. The 95-96 Bulls are widely considered one of the greatest teams in NBA history. That season, Michael Jordan averaged 30.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.2 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game, leading the league in scoring while earning MVP, All-Star MVP, Finals MVP, and NBA All-Defensive First Team honors. After winning the Championship MJ collapsed to the floor in tears while clutching the basketball. These size 13.5 Player Samples are dual-signed by Michael Jordan in black permanent marker.
Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 11 was the first Air Jordan to feature patent leather uppers and Carbon Fiber, making it an instant classic on and off the court. Tinker Hatfield and Michael Jordan have both said that the Air Jordan 11 is their favorite of all the Air Jordan models. The shoes have become highly coveted by sneaker collectors, with annual Nike December holiday releases since 2008 that sell out immediately. Nike has released the Concord Air Jordan 11s to the public in 1995, 2000, 2011, and 2018, but the original Player Sample pairs made for and worn by Michael Jordan remain the most valuable and historically significant.
The Air Jordan 11 originally debuted as a high-top in three colorways: White and Black (the Concords), White and Blue (the Columbias), and Black and Red (the Breds or Playoffs). Michael Jordan first wore the Air Jordan 11s in Concord, his most worn colorway, during the 1994–95 Playoffs against the Orlando Magic, later wearing them throughout the 1995–96 season. He sported the Columbias in the All-Star Game and the Black and Reds during the playoffs, while the all-black version famously appeared both on court and in Space Jam.
This lot is accompanied by two Letters of Authenticity from JSA for both signatures.
