A one-of-a-kind and quite possibly one of the rarest Nirvana shirts in existence, Jeff Ross was the master screen printer that Sub Pop entrusted with much of its early tour-shirt output across the Bleach and pre-Nevermind period, meaning the difference between a faded production pull and a piece like this is the difference between a print and the proof. This is the proof: a single shirt Ross used over the course of months to check registration, ink density, and color across multiple screen runs before committing them to production. Test prints exist in single examples by definition, almost always destroyed , thrown away or worn into oblivion. That this one survived — pairing Nirvana with Tad and the British psych-punk outfit Thee Hypnotics, a constellation of bands that toured together at the precise moment grunge was crossing from regional scene to global event — and survived in size Large, mint condition places it among the rarest physical artifacts of the Bleach-to-Nevermind threshold.
