The double album that detonated punk's borders — recorded over the long hot summer of 1979 at Wessex Studios with Guy Stevens, London Calling broke open the form, pulling reggae, ska, rockabilly and R&B into the slipstream of The Clash's sound. This UK first pressing carries the autographs of all four members on the reverse sleeve, gathered in person around the time of release: Joe Strummer in black ballpoint, Paul Simonon in blue felt-tip, Topper Headon and Mick Jones in blue ballpoint. A rare, fully-signed example of the record Rolling Stone would later call the album of the eighties, captured at the precise moment the band were re-writing what punk could be.
