A visionary in the world of watch design, Gérald Genta is credited with shaping the modern landscape of luxury sports watches through his groundbreaking creations for Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, and beyond. Yet it was under his eponymous brand — founded in 1969 — that Genta's most creative and unrestrained designs took shape. Among them, the Octagonal collection of 1991 is likely the most renowned. With a powerful and distinct 8-sided case, Genta would go on to produce a range of watches with various complications, even grand comps, as well as simpler models featuring cartoon characters on the dial. The Octagonal case stands as a striking example of Genta’s inventive spirit, combining classical aesthetics with forward-thinking and innovative shapes.

The present example, reference G3328.7, is without complication but elevated by the use of mother-of-pearl for the dial and an intricately faceted crystal — a unique Genta detail. Executed in 18k white gold, this is a lot of watch from the hands-down greatest watch designer to ever live.
