Product Note
Supreme and Nike SB united for their second collaboration, an ode to the 1986 “Be True to Your School” Dunk colorways. The new take on the classic design produced a sample adorned with golden Nike Swoosh logos, in a style similar to Supreme's repetitive usage of their iconic box logo. Upon production, the design prompted concerns over copyright issues at Nike, and as a result, the design was rejected. In lieu of the abundant Swooshes, Supreme switched the design to golden stars and launched the shoes in 2003. The general release pair receiving such acclaim, they are often sold for upwards of $5,000 on the secondary market.
Thought to have been destroyed, or never produced in a full pair, by even the most seasoned sneaker and Supreme collectors alike, the journey of the rejected samples recently took a turn when they were revealed on Instagram, confirming the existence of three complete pairs of the once-discarded Swoosh design.
