NOTES:
Born in Paysandú Department, Uruguay in 1976, Gabriela Hearst is a fashion designer known for her commitment to sustainability and luxury craftsmanship. She is the creative director of her eponymous label and was the former creative director of Chloé from 2020-2023 making her one of the few designers to creative direct two houses at once. Hearst’s notable projects include designing eco-friendly collections and incorporating recycled materials into high fashion. In 2024, Hearst also designed the costumes for San Francisco Ballet’s modern production of Carmen, part of the company’s Dos Mujeres program. The costumes, made from ultra-fine, eco-friendly merino wool in red, black, yellow and white were praised for their striking, performance-friendly design as well as their innovative and sustainable approach to dancewear.
