One Piece Original Production Drawing – Tony Tony Chopper

Chopper panicking is Chopper doing what Chopper does best. The Straw Hat Pirates’ ship doctor — a blue-nosed reindeer who ate the Human-Human Fruit and gained the ability to speak, walk upright, and transform between seven different battle shapes — spends much of One Piece in a specific flavor of wide-eyed emotional overreaction, and this douga catches the character mid-leap in exactly that register: cape streaming out behind him, mouth hanging open in surprise, hooves splayed in panic-flight. The sheet comes from Toei Animation’s long-running television adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga, placed inside the back half of Toei’s traditional animation era for the series, before the full digital transition reshaped the production workflow. The double red-and-blue registration lines on the drawing mark the specific lead-animator corrections before the sheet would have been fed through the ink-and-paint team.
