Akira Toriyama launched Dr. Slump in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1980 — the manga that effectively made Toriyama a star within Shōnen Jump's editorial room four years before Dragon Ball began, built around a small-town inventor and the super-strong android girl Arale Norimaki that he builds as his "daughter." Arale's catchphrases ("N'cha!", "Kiiin!", "Bay-bo!", "Ohakoni!") became cultural shorthand across early-80s Japanese children's television and television dub campaigns. Toriyama's death in March 2024 has since re-centered collector attention on the entire pre-Dragon Ball portion of his catalog. This navy cotton Cospa tee runs the Arale-chan graphic in a dense pop-art-starburst composition, with Arale herself rendered in purple-and-tan duotone saluting against a halftone-dotted explosion of her signature catchphrases.
