Before fronting The Smiths, a teenage Steven Patrick Morrissey was so deeply obsessed with the glam-punk pioneers that he served as the president of their official UK fan club, even authoring a slim biographical fanzine/book about them in 1981. Twenty years later he closed the loop by curating the Dolls’ reunion at London’s Meltdown Festival in 2004, pulling the surviving band back onstage together for the first time in a quarter-century. This white cotton tee reproduces a photographic image of that fandom: a black-and-white portrait of Morrissey wearing a New York Dolls T-shirt against a saturated blue backdrop, his name set vertically down the left margin in matching blue block type.
