Street Fighter Original Production Cel – Chun-Li

The blue qipao, the spiked bracelets, the ox-horn hair buns — Chun-Li’s silhouette is one of the most instantly readable character designs in the entire history of video games. Known as the "First Lady of Fighting Games," Chun-Li was first featured in the Capcom arcade title Street Fighter II: The World Warrior in 1991, reseting the trajectory of the whole genre around her. This animation cel is from the 1995-97 Street Fighter animated series - here she is captured in near-full-upper-body pose: head tilted back, right hand extended palm-up in a come-at-me gesture, hair ribbons trailing from the twin buns. Hand-painted animation production tied directly to a canonical fighting-game character sits at a specific intersection the vintage cel market — Chun-Li material from the window pulls collectors from both sides.
