Flower Block

In this delicate resin cube, botanical artist Azuma Makoto suspends time—encasing a real pansy bloom in crystal-clear resin. Known for merging nature with contemporary sculpture, Makoto captures the ephemeral beauty of florals and transforms them into enduring objects of contemplation.

Vivid shades of violet and white radiate through the transparent cube, highlighting the intricate symmetry of the bloom. The floral specimen is perfectly centered, appearing to float midair—an homage to the fleeting, fragile nature of life, held still in minimalist precision.

Both sculpture and specimen, Block exemplifies Makoto’s practice of fusing floristry, design, and conceptual art. A poetic meditation on preservation and decay, this piece brings the sublime into the everyday.
