The SHAFT is one of the most historically loaded frames in the Chrome Hearts eyewear catalog: the first model the brand ever issued in its vintage collection, featured on the cover of Chrome Hearts Magazine Vol. 6 in 2005, and — most famously — Karl Lagerfeld's personal favorite from the house. Lagerfeld, who first walked into Chrome Hearts' Los Angeles store in the late 1990s, became one of the brand's most devoted collectors across the two decades that followed, wearing its eyewear publicly for years and reportedly furnishing entire homes with Chrome Hearts pieces.

This example is a low-slung wraparound sport silhouette in matte black, with ebony wood temple arms terminating in sterling silver fleur-de-lis caps; the temple plate carries Chrome Hearts' gothic "CH" wordmark, cast in sterling and inset against the warm grain of the wood. Manufactured in Japan to Chrome Hearts' typical optical specifications, with hardware cast and finished at the brand's Hollywood workshop. SHAFT remains a touchstone of the catalog, and the black-on-ebony execution reads as a more restrained counterpart to the iconic gold-and-wood variant that anchored the 2005 magazine cover.
