Gary Baseman designed this "Dumb Luck" figure as part of his ongoing collectible series and hand-signed the accompanying packaging here for direct authentication. Baseman is best known for his surreal character-driven paintings, translated here in the same visual vocabulary into three-dimensional form. The blue figure appears in signature Baseman style with cartoon-strange proportions, oversized head, and painterly surface detail, housed in the original pink cylindrical presentation tube with the artist's illustrated wraparound graphics and accompanied by a lucky rabbit's foot. This is the New York / NYC edition of the release, tied to the artist's Baseman-branded run of city-specific figures. Produced by Critterbox, this peice carries the signature by creator Gary Baseman on the belly of the figure, from an edition of 300 — this example numbered 290/300.

Gary Baseman (b. 1960) is an American illustrator, fine artist, toy designer and Emmy-winning animator, best known for creating Disney/ABC's "Teacher's Pet" and the board game Cranium. His signature aesthetic blends pop-art imagery, vintage motifs and cross-cultural mythology into playful, uncanny creatures, placing his work at the center of the lowbrow / pop-surrealist movement.
