Mach GoGoGo debuted on Fuji TV in 1967 as Tatsuo Yoshida's manga adaptation and crossed the Pacific the following year as Speed Racer, becoming one of the first anime properties to find mainstream US broadcast distribution and effectively introducing an entire generation of American viewers to Japanese animation vocabulary. Speed's angular jaw, red-M helmet, and roaring Mach 5 have anchored a continuously-licensed King Features property across the following six decades. This 1992 Stanley DeSantis-manufactured cotton tee gives its body over entirely to a two-color all-over-print graphic: a cyan Speed Racer at the wheel of the Mach 5 — teeth bared, hands gripping the steering wheel — superimposed over a swirling black-and-white checkered flag that wraps across the front, back, and sleeves, with small "Speed Racer" ovals set at the sleeve as the anchor logo.
