Max Fleischer introduced Betty Boop in the 1930 short Dizzy Dishes as one of the first fully-animated female cartoon characters in American animation history — a flapper-era pin-up whose spit curls, garter belt, and squeaky "Boop-Oop-a-Doop" vocabulary built an entire visual language that the Hays Code would eventually sanitize out of existence by 1939. The character returned through continuous King Features licensing across the following nine decades, with the mid-1990s window specifically producing a wave of hip-hop-adjacent streetwear recontextualization alongside the broader Lauryn Hill and Lil Kim-era vocabulary. This olive-green cotton tee comes from that moment: Betty rendered at full chest scale in a black crop top, camouflage cargo pants, and chunky brown boots, squatting slightly with one hand on her knee — the 1930s source character redressed in late-1990s streetwear. The back prints a "GIRLS RULE" graffiti wordmark at the upper yoke in bone-cream, with 1997 copyright on front confirming the specific King Features licensing year.
