A landmark convergence of luxury fashion and sneaker culture, the Nike x Louis Vuitton “Air Force 1” reimagines one of basketball’s most enduring silhouettes through the lens of Virgil Abloh during his tenure at Louis Vuitton. Debuted as part of the house’s Spring/Summer 2022 menswear presentation, the design fuses the familiar structure of the Nike Air Force 1 with Louis Vuitton’s emblematic materials — premium calf leather uppers embossed with the Maison’s Monogram and Damier motifs, finished with natural cowhide piping and Abloh’s signature quotation-mark typography across the sole and laces. Each pair was meticulously produced in Louis Vuitton’s Italian footwear atelier in Fiesso d’Artico, elevating the streetwear classic into an object of couture-level craftsmanship.

Presented alongside the sneakers is the bespoke Louis Vuitton pilot case—an archival-inspired travel piece crafted from vibrant orange Taurillon Monogram leather and fitted with the house’s classic S-lock closure in white metal. Designed exclusively for the project, the case features a Swoosh-shaped luggage tag and an internal cushioning system engineered to accommodate the shoes inside, transforming the packaging itself into a collectible artifact. Limited to just 200 pairs released through a charity auction at Sotheby's, the project celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Air Force 1 while raising funds for the Virgil Abloh™ “Post-Modern” Scholarship Fund — ensuring that the collaboration stands not only as one of the most culturally significant sneakers ever produced, but also as a continuation of Abloh’s enduring commitment to education and opportunity.
