LaQuan Smith’s Spring 2023 collection, staged aboard the Intrepid, explored sensuality, fluidity, and bold material play, expanding his repertoire beyond eveningwear into statement daywear. Look #10 captured that tension between utility and provocation: a fluorescent yellow vinyl mini skirt, cut low on the hips and styled with sharp asymmetric draping.

The skirt’s neon finish injected the collection with a jolt of color, part of Smith’s experimentation with high-shine textures including sequins, vinyl, and lucite jewelry. Paired on the runway with a sculpted black cutout bodysuit, it showcased Smith’s instinct for making even the simplest category—the miniskirt—into a high-impact piece of nightlife armor.
