On June 16, 2024, Tazewell walked the Tony Awards carpet at the David H. Koch Theater nominated for Best Costume Design of a Musical for his work on Suffs — Shaina Taub's musical about the American women's suffrage movement and the fight for the 19th Amendment. He chose this jacket: an Alexander McQueen black wool double-breasted tailored jacket with sharp peaked lapels, structured shoulders, and an oversized white-and-silver floral arrangement embroidered across the chest and lapel in trailing stems and full blossoms — the kind of botanical embroidery that defined Sarah Burton's late McQueen and remains one of the most recognizable signatures of the house.

The flower was not incidental. White was the official color of the American suffragette movement — sash, dress, and accessory worn by the women whose work Suffs dramatizes — and on the night Tazewell was nominated for the show he had clothed, he wore the symbol they wore.
