Paul Tazewell wore this Dior × Peter Doig bomber jacket to the New York premiere of Steven Spielberg's West Side Story on November 29, 2021, at the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center — the carpet for the film that would, two months later, make him the first African American male costume designer ever nominated for an Academy Award for Best Costume Design. The piece is from Kim Jones's Dior Men Winter 2021 collection, the collaboration with Scottish painter Peter Doig in which Doig's painterly handling of military motif was rendered as jacquard across the season's tailored uniform vocabulary. The bomber carries the collab's signature camouflage in warm peach, purple, olive, and chocolate — woven into the fabric rather than printed, giving the surface a topographical weight flat camo lacks. Standard zip-front bomber silhouette, ribbed cuffs and hem.
The matching trousers complete the set — cut from the same Doig camouflage jacquard, the pattern carrying in unbroken composition from waist through hem. Built to Kim Jones-era Dior Men's tailoring: clean front, slant side pockets, formal cut, finished to the house's Italian construction standard. Tazewell wore only the jacket on the night, but the full Dior × Peter Doig suit is offered here.
