Paul Tazewell wore this Fendi suede jacket through the West Side Story press cycle in the fall of 2021 — the press circuit for Steven Spielberg's first musical and the body of work that would, two months after the film's December release, make Tazewell the first African American male costume designer nominated for the Academy Award for Best Costume Design. A piece from Fendi's recent menswear: navy blue suede with the house's signature monogram worked across the body in tonal relief, the logo pattern reading subtly against the deep blue rather than printed loudly onto it. The construction is supple Italian suede, finished to the house's atelier specifications, in a light bomber-blazer silhouette with dual front chest pockets.
