NOTES:
An early and rare example of Shantell Martin’s interdisciplinary practice, Parking Circuit Board (2014) was created in collaboration with Jonathan Bobrow, an artist, programmer, and MIT Media Lab researcher. Together, they designed a functional circuit board in four parts, merging art, design, and technology. Motivated by ideas of transparency and efficiency, the project highlights the beauty and functionality of engineered systems. Martin etched her signature lines and text into the board, and even learned to solder during the process - reflecting her deepening engagement with both the poetic and technical.
