In 1998-00 The Red Devils HOME, Shohei Ochiai turns a red football shirt into a vivid portrait of sporting memory. The crest, sponsor lettering and contrasting stripes are built up with his graphic lines and layered surfaces, giving a familiar piece of fan culture the presence of an object worth preserving.

Shohei Ochiai is a Japanese artist known for his vivid, textural interpretations of everyday objects. A graduate of Tama Art University’s Product Design Department, he uses bold lines, sculptural depth and expressive forms to transform familiar items into larger-than-life portraits.
