NOTES:

Piece by Piece presents a colorful, assembled figure against a saturated yellow ground. Ochiai’s angular contours, overlapping shapes and cardboard elements emphasize the act of construction suggested by the title, transforming the figure into a playful study of form and texture.

Shohei Ochiai is a Japanese artist known for his vivid, textural interpretations of everyday objects. A graduate of Tama Art University’s Product Design Department, he uses bold lines, sculptural depth and expressive forms to transform familiar items into larger-than-life portraits.
