The NIKE SB Dunk Low “Tokyo” was released in 2004 as part of Nike SB’s celebrated City Series, a group of exceptionally scarce city-themed releases that also included London, Paris, and New York. Distributed through select SB accounts in Tokyo, the model is widely reported to have been produced in an edition of 202 pairs, making it one of the rarest and most sought-after Dunks of its era.
Rendered in a fully muslin colorway, the “Tokyo” strips the Dunk back to an almost monochrome expression, giving the pair the feel of a blank canvas. That concept carries through in the design details: unlike standard early SBs, the shoe forgoes the usual padded tongue and removes the typical Nike branding from the heel and tongue, reinforcing its unusually spare, minimalist character. It is also associated with the White Dunk: Evolution of an Icon exhibition, further cementing its place in the broader history of early Nike SB storytelling.
More than a rare release, the “Tokyo” has become one of the defining grails of Nike SB’s golden era. Its extreme scarcity, understated construction, and direct connection to one of the most mythologized city packs in sneaker history have made it a cornerstone piece for serious collectors. This example is made all the more desirable by the presence of its attached lace bag, a detail rarely preserved.
Accompanied by replacement shoe laces and original box.
