This item could be best represented by a clichĂŠ cop show-style corkboard with dozens of photos, and strings connecting them. The board is plastered with thumbtacked images of a variety of people, places, and things ⌠Vinyl records, a legendary French record producer/label owner, Paris, colette, Daft Punk, a prestigious 125+ year-old German luggage brand, Teddy Riley, stickers⌠lots of revealing stickers. The string crisscrosses the corkboard, connecting the photos like a manic laser bouncing around a hall of mirrors. At the center of the board⌠a photo of Pharrell Williams. Everything connects to him.Â
This offering is a collection of 23 vinyl records which Pedro âBusy Pâ Winter has curated from his personal collection of Pharrellâs greatest hits. The records are housed in a Rimowa travel case that has been plastered with stickers reflecting encounters and moments in Pedroâs life. Follow the string. Itâs all connected.
"For more than a quarter of a century, Pharrell Williams has made the world dance. I've been DJing for approximately the same time. We both share the initials PW. My name is Pedro Winter, and this is my record box. This globe-trotter's suitcase filled with some of my favorite Pharrell records is the perfect souvenir of an era that we now all cherish. DJing is a passion, but it's also a commitment. Crate digging in records shops, travelling the world to spread good vibes, carrying our favorite records until we carefully drop the record on them and set the dance floor on fire. This RIMOWA Pilot Case full of Pharrell grooves was my companion in the mid 2000s, just before digital music transformed everything. Back then, we kept records like treasures, eventually trading our heavy record boxes for CD cases, and then to pocket-sized USBs.
The stickers on it are not just stickers... Each represents a moment, an encounter. Logos can say a lot about who you are and where you come from. They're my version of the 'Le Petit Poucet' rocks you drop as you make your way home. They keep me linked with my skateboarder years, my favorite record shops. Music is my passport, those stickers are my way to stamp this record box. I selected key releases, dating back to 1993 when the name Pharrell Williams was written in the credits of a 12" for the first time ever. Of course, I had to put classic club hits from the 2000s too, such as "Drop it like itâs hot", "Frontin" and "Pass the Courvoisier". It also had to be personal. I met Pharrell in 2001, running after him to ask for a remix of Daft Punk. The rest is now history. Like Willy Wonka, I hid a test-pressing of The Neptunes's remix of "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" in this box...get lucky!"
