Vintage Planters Mr. Peanut Jacket
A jacket from well-known peanut maker Planters, with the classic character "Mr. PEANUT" embroidered on the back. There is a strong likelihood this jacket was worn by a company salesman. A common characteristic of these vintage Planters employee jackets, is a slightly sweet smell of peanuts remaining in the vintage fabric.
In the all-star lineup of brand mascots, Mr. Peanut is hitting cleanup. The cane-clutching, monocle-rocking, top hat-topped legume has been repping the Planters brand since 1916. This white, lapeled jacket was manufactured by A. Rifkin Co. and is chain stitch embroidered with the Planters script and Mr. Peanut mascot. It was likely worn in the field by a company salesman in the 1960s. Legend has it, that the sweet aroma of roasted peanuts still resides in the cotton fabric.
