NOTES:

Born in New York in 1981, Kenny Rivero works in richly layered paintings, collages, drawings, and sculptures that explore the fragmented nature of his Dominican American identity, reimagining personal and collective histories through symbolism, language and narrative imagery. Influenced by rhythms of salsa, hip-hop, house music and spiritual traditions like Vodun and Santería, Rivero’s work deconstructs inherited constructs of race, gender and belonging to build new, fluid realities.
