This gold-toned chain necklace was created for Austin Butler in his Academy Award–nominated portrayal of Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis (2022). The pendant bears the iconic initials “TCB" which stands for "Taking Care of Business," Elvis Presley’s enduring personal motto and the name of his famed backing group, the TCB Band. Designed by his wife, Priscilla Presley, the emblem is completed by a lightning bolt, signifying “in a flash.” Widely recognized among fans, the logo became synonymous with Elvis’ identity, appearing on custom jewelry and even on his private jet. Elvis’ personal jeweler, Lowell Hayes, produced the original TCB (and the female counterpart, TLC) jewelry, which Elvis bestowed upon members of his trusted inner circle. The TCB pendants were reserved for the men of his entourage, the “Memphis Mafia”, and served as a mark of loyalty and brotherhood, while the TLC version was gifted to women in his life, including family and close friends. With its understated design and cultural resonance, this piece offers collectors both a tangible link to Elvis’ world and a cinematic artifact of the meticulous costume design behind Elvis (2022).
