Sade 'Stronger than Pride' Platinum Plaque

This Multi-Platinum plaque commemorates the sale of more than 1,000,000 copies of Sade’s 1988 third studio album, Stronger Than Pride, and includes the album, cassette and CD formats. The plaque was presented to Stuart Matthewman, songwriter, guitarist, saxophonist, and founding member of Sade. Stronger Than Pride further established the band’s distinctive blend of smooth jazz, soul, and R&B, solidifying their place as one of the most influential acts of the era.

Matthewman, who played a central role in shaping Sade’s sound, has earned four Grammy Awards and, in 2024, received a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination for his work with the band. This plaque represents both a milestone in Sade’s career and a tangible acknowledgment of Matthewman’s contributions to one of the most enduring and influential acts in contemporary music.
