This Gold plaque commemorates the sale of more than 500,000 copies of Sade’s 1984 debut studio album, Diamond Life, and was presented to Stuart Matthewman, songwriter, guitarist, saxophonist, and founding member of the band. Diamond Life launched Sade’s career, introducing the world to their distinctive blend of smooth jazz, soul, and R&B, and established the band as a defining voice in contemporary music.
Matthewman, who played a central role in shaping Sade’s sound, has earned four Grammy Awards and, in 2024, received a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination for his work with the band. This plaque represents both a milestone in Sade’s career and a tangible acknowledgment of Matthewman’s contributions to one of the most enduring and influential acts in contemporary music.
All consignor proceeds will be donated to Doctors Without Borders.
