Sade 'Promise' Platinum Plaque

This Multi-Platinum plaque commemorates the sale of more than 2,000,000 copies of Sade’s 1985 album Promise, including the album, cassette and CD formats. This Plaque was presented to Stuart Matthewman, songwriter, guitarist, saxophonist, and founding member of the band. Promise, Sade’s second studio album, showcases the band’s signature blend of smooth jazz, soul, and R&B, building on the international success of their debut album, Diamond Life.

Matthewman, who played a central role in shaping Sade’s sound, has earned four Grammy Awards and, in 2024, received a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination for his work with the band. This plaque represents both a milestone in Sade’s career and a tangible acknowledgment of Matthewman’s contributions to one of the most enduring and influential acts in contemporary music.
