Shepard Fairey's portrait of Joan Jett, built from a photograph by Chris Stein of Blondie — taken during Jett's Runaways period, when she was in her late teens, the band two years into the four-year run that founded American all-female rock. Stein and Jett later both signed copies of the paper edition of the image at a session held in Debbie Harry's hotel room.

The present work is from the smaller wood-panel edition of six — silkscreened by the artist over a hand-prepared birch panel ground. Number 5 in the edition.
