The reference 116528 brings Rolex’s in-house 4130 movement together with 18k yellow gold—and a configuration that feels decidedly more relaxed than the usual gold-on-bracelet formula.

Introduced in 2000 as the 18k yellow gold reference within the modern six-digit Daytona family, the 116528 shares its case architecture and in-house 4130 movement with the contemporaneous steel and white gold models. Unlike the preceding Zenith-era Daytonas, Rolex offered the reference with a range of dials throughout its production, including black, white, champagne, and mother-of-pearl, giving collectors plenty of variety within a single family.

This example goes even further. An iridescent mother-of-pearl dial with applied Arabic gold numerals is paired with a black rubber strap in place of the more familiar Oyster bracelet. The result is a watch that puts the heft of solid gold against something decidedly sportier.
