Richard Mille is a brand where cutting-edge materials from high-performance worlds such as Formula 1 racecars meet high-end traditional watchmaking. In collaboration with Paris Saint-Germain, one of the world’s most iconic football clubs, the RM030 PSG is a rarely seen limited edition of an innovative, time-only Richard Mille reference.
Unveiled in 2011, the RM030 collection represented a major breakthrough in RM’s technical capabilities with the introduction of the automatic calibre RMAR1. Traditional automatic movements rely on a slipping clutch to prevent overwinding — a system that can degrade timekeeping performance over time. Instead, Richard Mille spent four years rethinking the rotor altogether. The result is a patented declutchable rotor system that disconnects itself automatically when the power reserve hits 50 hours, and seamlessly re-engages at 40. This system maintains the optimal ratio of constant torque and power, throughout the run time, resulting in improved chronometric performance.
Crafted in TZP-N ceramic and Quartz TPT, the case mimics the signature colors of “Les Rouge et Bleu.” The bright look is not out of the norm for Richard Mille, yet the PSG logo on the dial. Printed on the transparent sapphire crystal plate, which serves as the dial of this openworked watch, the PSG logo takes the place of where the RM030 model name is typically displayed. The addition and position of the logo is well balanced by the power reserve indicator at nine o’clock. One of very few “co-branded” watches ever produced by RM — another notable example being the limited editions with Ferrari — the RM030 PSG is a distinctive reference in the brand’s oeuvre.
Just as Richard Mille’s cultural impact has extended beyond the niche world of watches, PSG’s brand power reaches far beyond the pitch. The RM030 PSG is a limited edition of 100 pieces.
