2006 Michael Schumacher Signed San Marino Grand Prix-Winning Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 Suit

Worn by Michael Schumacher to victory at the 2006 San Marino Grand Prix, the present suit is signed across the white chest panel in black marker and inscribed it “Imola 2006.” It dates to his final season with Scuderia Ferrari and to one of the final victories of his Formula 1 career.

Schumacher arrived at Imola seeking Ferrari’s first victory of the 2006 season. In qualifying, he secured his 66th career pole position, surpassing the record previously held by Ayrton Senna. The following day, he converted pole into victory, holding off Fernando Alonso to claim the 85th win of his career and a record seventh at Imola. The race would also prove to be the last San Marino Grand Prix: following the 2006 season, Imola disappeared from the Formula 1 calendar and would not return until the 2020 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

The suit also captures a distinctive chapter in Formula 1’s sponsorship history. In place of Ferrari’s customary Marlboro branding, it carries plain white panels with red detailing, reflecting restrictions on tobacco advertising in force at the race. Even Marlboro’s familiar chevron was absent, leaving the unusually pared-back livery seen on Schumacher as he took victory at Imola.

Photo-matched to a record-breaking weekend and personally inscribed by Schumacher for the race, the suit represents a significant artifact from the final season of his first Formula 1 career.
