1994-1995 Beastie Boys Task Force Coaches Jacket | XL

USD$1,125.00

Issued to select members of the Beastie Boys' inner circle during the Ill Communication era, this original Task Force jacket is a rare artifact from the group’s peak, a moment when their fusion of punk, hip-hop, and DIY ethos hit full stride. Produced in limited numbers for staff and crew only, the black nylon coaches jacket features the Beastie Boys crest at the chest and a bold “ILL” vinyl graphic across the back in unmistakable yellow.

The Beastie Boys defined Downtown New York’s early 1980s underground. Starting as a hardcore band playing at CBGB and the Mudd Club, they absorbed the city’s creative friction, hip-hop DJs in the Bronx, graffiti writers in SoHo, post-punk kids on the Bowery, and turned it into something wholly new. Ill Communication, released in 1994, was the culmination of that history: jazz samples, Buddhist references, lo-fi skate energy, and razor wit, all threaded through their distinctly New York lens.
