The 2005 Diamond Supply Co. x Nike SB Dunk High “Tiffany” sat at the top of the sneaker collector market for most of a decade before Freehand Profit took a pair apart and rebuilt them as Mask eighty-three in 2015 — turning one of the most-tracked Nike SB collaborations in the modern catalog, with its Nicky Diamonds-designed Tiffany-blue upper and black elephant-print paneling, into a single functioning sculptural gas mask. The elephant-print leather wraps across the filter canister and the face plate, with the Tiffany-blue uppers reassembled across the mask body and strap system, and the Diamond Supply Co. hangtag integrated into the composition.
Gary Lockwood, known as Freehand Profit, is a Virginia-based artist whose practice transforms iconic sneakers into one-of-one sculptural masks. Since 2010, he has produced more than 200 unique works, each examining the intersection of identity, consumer culture, and contemporary symbolism through the language of footwear. By recontextualizing familiar materials into meticulously constructed objects, Freehand Profit elevates the everyday into something collectible—where craft, concept, and cultural reference converge.
