FUTURA 2000 (B. 1955)
Futura FLOM Skatedeck

8 x 29 1/2 x 2 inches (20.3 x 74.9 x 5.1 cm)
Executed in 2005.
NOTES:
A vivid example of Futura 2000’s evolution from subway pioneer to global icon, this FLOM Edition skate deck fuses the artist’s abstract visual language with streetwear’s most democratic canvas. From the personal collection of Maripol, it represents a key moment in the crossover between underground culture and contemporary art.
Executed in 2005, the deck features a collage-style composition - currency, fragments of stamps, painted overlays, and stark linework - all hallmarks of Futura’s sharp, fast-moving hand. Known for his origins in the 1970s graffiti movement and for redefining what aerosol art could be, Futura’s work consistently bridged fine art, music, and design with street-level authenticity.
Released in a limited run under the FLOM (For Love Or Money) concept, the piece riffs on themes of capitalism, value, and creative integrity. More than a deck, it’s a portable mural - a cultural object where utility meets commentary.
