NOTES:
From the personal collection of Maripol, Keith Haring’s Into 84 poster—featuring celebrated choreographer and dancer Bill T. Jones—is more than an announcement. It’s a declaration of movement, body, and identity at the heart of New York’s downtown explosion.

Created for Haring’s landmark 1984 exhibition at Tony Shafrazi Gallery, the poster shows Jones from behind, nude and boldly outlined, surrounded by Haring’s signature visual language: dense fields of radiating lines and kinetic figures. The original image came from a session in London, where Haring painted Jones head-to-toe. Photographer Tseng Kwong Chi captured the moment; Haring later traced the silhouette from the photograph, transforming it into this now-iconic graphic.

One of the era’s most influential art dealers, Tony Shafrazi was instrumental in shaping the careers of Basquiat, Warhol, Haring, Kenny Scharf, and others. He was also the first to exhibit the Warhol x Basquiat collaborations, including the legendary Boxing Gloves poster.

Another edition of this poster is pictured.
