NOTES:

A vibrant work that transforms painting into textile, Jeffrey Gibson’s I Feel Real When You Hold Me reimagines one of his signature canvases as a cashmere blanket. The piece retains Gibson’s instantly recognizable vocabulary of kaleidoscopic diamonds and lyrical text, here hand-signed on the reverse, translating the language of fine art into an intimate, functional object.

Jeffrey Gibson (b. 1972, Mississippi Choctaw/Cherokee) is an American artist whose practice merges Indigenous traditions with contemporary abstraction, craft, and queer aesthetics. His work spans painting, sculpture, performance, and textiles, often embedding hand-beading, weaving, and found materials into geometric abstraction and text-based forms. Gibson represented the United States at the 2024 Venice Biennale, cementing his place as one of the leading voices of his generation.
