A personal relic from the frontline of hip-hop history, this custom “Sophie-Soph” jacket by Sea Horse belonged to photographer and MTV producer Sophie Bramly during her groundbreaking work on Yo!. She originally bought the “YO!” Jacket in Compton. It’s a jacket that members of NWA were wearing and she had the “YO!” embroidery as well as her name added to it on the spot when she was interviewing them in L.A. (She was also interviewing JJ Fad and a few others). As one of the first to visually document hip-hop in its entirety, Bramly helped shape how the world saw the culture. This jacket is a testament to her role in recording and amplifying the movement from within.
