The Breitling Navitimer Twin Sixty is among the most elusive members of the Navitimer family: a special-series model produced for less than a year between 1998 and 1999 that never appeared in Breitling's regular catalog. Its brief, quiet production is precisely what makes it so compelling today, as examples surface far less frequently than the standard three-register Navitimer chronographs of the era.

The watch preserves the Navitimer's signature identity. Its 42mm stainless steel case is fitted with the signature circular slide-rule bezel, allowing pilots to perform calculations such as ground speed, fuel consumption, and unit conversions directly from the wrist — a defining feature of the Navitimer since its introduction in 1952.

The Twin Sixty distinguishes itself through its unconventional dial layout, from which it takes its name. Instead of the traditional three chronograph subdials, elapsed hours and minutes are combined into a single "mono-counter" at 6 o'clock. Alongside it are a 24-hour display for a second time reference and an AM/PM indicator, practical additions for pilots and frequent travelers crossing time zones. Dials were offered in a small selection of colors, most commonly blue and black, and were typically paired with Arabic numerals.

The watch runs on Breitling's Caliber 39, an automatic movement built on the ETA 2892-A2 base with a Breitling chronograph module, delivering approximately 42 hours of power reserve. The same movement was later used in the Twin Sixty 2 and Breitling's Hercules reference.
