The Buzzcocks' Singles Going Steady, released in September 1979 — the singles compilation that codified Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle's run of 1977–79 seven-inches into one of the canonical British punk LPs of the period. Issued initially for the US market by IRS Records and subsequently in the UK by United Artists, the record gathers "Orgasm Addict," "What Do I Get?," "Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)" and the rest of the A-side singles, paired with their B-sides on side two.

Pete Shelley (born Peter McNeish; 1955–2018) — his stage name an homage to the Romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley — wrote "Ever Fallen in Love" among the most enduring love songs the punk era produced. Bayley met the Buzzcocks during their American tour, gathered the present signatures from the full band, and took a small set of hotel-room photographs of Shelley at the same time.
